time signatures and scales

i started blogging 'cause i need a way to keep track of my life. i need something to look back on, something to remember great nights, mistakes, amazing people, and disappointments. with music my entire life is laid out in time signatures and scales. why not the internet.

i'm home from tour. my first night back in my uncle's apartment where i crash. i spent the entire night talking with sergio, driving justin home from practice, and catching up on television shows i like on the internet. its an incredible feeling, and i can't wait for christmas. i love seeing all my family, and i love it when my brother is home from school. we don't get to hang out alot, and its unfortunate. by the time we were 16/14 years of age we became pretty close and grew into alot of similar interests... now i'm touring nearly all the time, and hes always away. whenever we're in the albany area he's always home. last summer he spent the entire time from the week he got home (we were in baltimore recording our record) and the week before he returned to school (we were on tour with The Years Gone By and Socratic) in Ireland working. He made a rediculous amount of money, which is awesome, but didn't leave much chilling time. He should be home any day, it's going to be dope. definetly some beer pong tournaments in my parent's basement.

i made some great new friends on this last run with sergio, and i'm sure i'll make many more in the coming months. our first tour of 2009 is with our friends breathe electric who are amazing guys, and secret secret dino club, our friend jayce. even though jimmi won't be on this tour with us, it's going to at least be nice to have the comfort of friendly faces. there isn't much surprise or anticipation of meeting new people that you'll be spending the next X amount of days with. it's actually more exciting cause you get to spend alot of time with people you already like, and theres no awkward meeting getting to know someone remembering names phase.

as long as everything pans out with the loner piano sergio is getting for me, tomorrow marks day one of the writing of our next record. i couldn't be more excited. i'm planning on putting down my guitar for this record for the most part, and concintrating on a newer exciting instrument. this is going to be a big step for us musically, and we know people are going to be feeling it. we love our last record, and i wouldn't change a thing, but that was then, and this is now. we know what we'd like to see this record become. it's all ideas hammered out in guitar centers, in parking lots with acoustic guitars, and bedroom writing sessions, but thats all you need to know what you want. music doesn't have to exist yet to be able to hear it. music is a feeling a vibe and a living breathing thing. it's as real as your heartbeat.

  1. Love the blog. It definitely has promise....

"Music is a feeling, a vibe and a living, breathing thing".

I could not agree more if I tried.
