i felt your touch but was taken by the sound.
of my long lost love in these American towns.
the street lights have been much kinder eyes,
you said the weeks weren't too long but here we are tonight.
and now, i know its been forever,
i've had time to change.
while you and the surrounding world just stayed the same.
and now, i know its been forever,
i've had this time alone.
have you proven yet you can make it on your own.
you kept me on the line.
bitter words exchanged over bitter wires.
not finished. soon.

underground
the grand alarm of dawn
breaking through the cracks of tattered blinds
saying the mornings come
and it's time to face this music.
don't think about the life you found,
and sometimes wish you hadn't,
these are the outstanding bills,
of breathing underground.
so face this music.
your heartbeat and breath out on trial.
breathe deep and believe it.
i've gone this far i'll keeping moving for now.
i hate these mornings that bleed violently into the afternoon.
the night sweeps through the city well,
the street lights called too soon.
breaking through the cracks of tattered blinds
saying the mornings come
and it's time to face this music.

dare
and though i've tried.
i will not fight my brother's fight,
or dare let go.
although my mouth is cluttered up,
with mounting words,
that i'd love,
to let out.
and as helpless as it stays.
you know, my love won't change.
and if you've ever felt me breathe.
you should know, i meant everything.
and if you've ever been in love.
you should know what it's like to let go,
don't dare let go.
not finished. maybe another time.

i'm a shark y'all just koi fish
i want to prove everything everyone has ever said wrong.
fuck everything that's wrong with music, and everything that makes me sick to my stomach.
i want to make something you've never heard before and make you realize how much more capable i am than the rest of the world.
i live to love music my family my friends.
i don't need anything but those three... the rest is just filler.

time signatures and scales
i started blogging 'cause i need a way to keep track of my life. i need something to look back on, something to remember great nights, mistakes, amazing people, and disappointments. with music my entire life is laid out in time signatures and scales. why not the internet.
i'm home from tour. my first night back in my uncle's apartment where i crash. i spent the entire night talking with sergio, driving justin home from practice, and catching up on television shows i like on the internet. its an incredible feeling, and i can't wait for christmas. i love seeing all my family, and i love it when my brother is home from school. we don't get to hang out alot, and its unfortunate. by the time we were 16/14 years of age we became pretty close and grew into alot of similar interests... now i'm touring nearly all the time, and hes always away. whenever we're in the albany area he's always home. last summer he spent the entire time from the week he got home (we were in baltimore recording our record) and the week before he returned to school (we were on tour with The Years Gone By and Socratic) in Ireland working. He made a rediculous amount of money, which is awesome, but didn't leave much chilling time. He should be home any day, it's going to be dope. definetly some beer pong tournaments in my parent's basement.
i made some great new friends on this last run with sergio, and i'm sure i'll make many more in the coming months. our first tour of 2009 is with our friends breathe electric who are amazing guys, and secret secret dino club, our friend jayce. even though jimmi won't be on this tour with us, it's going to at least be nice to have the comfort of friendly faces. there isn't much surprise or anticipation of meeting new people that you'll be spending the next X amount of days with. it's actually more exciting cause you get to spend alot of time with people you already like, and theres no awkward meeting getting to know someone remembering names phase.
as long as everything pans out with the loner piano sergio is getting for me, tomorrow marks day one of the writing of our next record. i couldn't be more excited. i'm planning on putting down my guitar for this record for the most part, and concintrating on a newer exciting instrument. this is going to be a big step for us musically, and we know people are going to be feeling it. we love our last record, and i wouldn't change a thing, but that was then, and this is now. we know what we'd like to see this record become. it's all ideas hammered out in guitar centers, in parking lots with acoustic guitars, and bedroom writing sessions, but thats all you need to know what you want. music doesn't have to exist yet to be able to hear it. music is a feeling a vibe and a living breathing thing. it's as real as your heartbeat.
